Stripping off data: It's quite revealing...

Oakwood have recently been working on a 3D laser scan survey  of a High School in Essex prior to it being refurbished. The main aim of the survey was to show the existing MEP for any builders works that may be needed, as a large part of the school is Grade 2 listed. The idea is that the MEP designer will be using as many of the existing holes for new pipework to cause minimal disruption to the fabric of the building.

We delivered a full point cloud of the existing building, interior and exterior, but also spent time stripping away point cloud data to show only the existing plumbing and heating. This makes it much easier to establish exactly where pipes penetrate walls, floors and ceilings.
